Sam Ryder to star in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium
Published on 7 November 2025
The London Palladium has announced its summer 2026 show — a spectacular new production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, starring Sam Ryder in his highly anticipated West End debut.
Reuniting the Olivier Award-winning creative team from the 2016 Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production, the show will be directed by Tim Sheader, choreographed by Drew McOnie, and designed by Tom Scutt.

Playing a strictly limited 11-week season from Saturday 20 June to Saturday 5 September 2026, this new staging will see Rice and Lloyd Webber’s legendary rock opera return in epic style, featuring classic numbers including ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.
Ryder, the BRIT and Emmy-nominated artist who rose to international fame with his Eurovision hit ‘Space Man’, said:
“I’m so excited to be part of one of the biggest institutions in musical theatre, at The London Palladium in the West End! I’m honoured to take on this responsibility as I follow in the footsteps of rock vocal titans like Ian Gillan and John Farnham. I can’t wait to immerse myself in the world of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2026.”
